F A Q S

Do I have to make a reservation?

Have to? No. Should you? Absolutely, yes. We frequently sell out in the summer and can not guarantee a board or kayak will be available if you walk-up.

Do I need a stand up-paddle board lesson before renting?

We recommend taking our Intro to SUP class before renting and exploring on your own. Stand-up paddling is not a difficult sport, but it is a lot more fun when you know what you’re doing. Our Intro class covers basic techniques to improve your experience and reduce the chance of injury or damage to the gear. If you prefer to rent without a lesson, ask us for a brief demonstration on the sand before you get on the water.

Can my kids paddle?

Yes. Paddleboarding and Kayaking are great for kids and we have some rules to help them love it as much as you do. Children under age 16 must be accompanied on the water with a parent or guardian unless they are attending one of our classes. Kids under 10 or so may be more comfortable on a parent’s paddle board than on their own; contact us first to talk about your situation. Everyone 12 and under must wear a PFD at all times (it’s the law). We encourage parents to wear PFDs around their kids.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes. We love our four legged friends at Pro SUP Shop. Dog life jackets are available for rent for $5. After your pup finishes their paddle, a treat awaits them when they return. Please note that dogs are not allowed on Mother’s Beach so we kindly ask that you take the path down to the beach, do not let your dog run off leash and make your way to your board or kayak.

Do you have somewhere I can keep my stuff while I paddle?

Yes. We will hang on to your keys also we have waterproof bags to rent if you have other items. We recommend that you leave other valuables at home or in your car. We do not recommend taking anything on the water that you would mind losing to the bottom of the marina, a “donation to neptune.” We have outdoor shelves next to the check-in desk for shoes.

What should I wear/bring?

Swimsuits and board shorts are an obvious choice, but anything that allows for good mobility and comfort in the elements will work such as fitness/athletic attire. We recommend paddling barefoot.  We have a place at check-in to store your shoes. On cooler days, don’t forget a covering to help with the chill. Jewelry and other loose items should not be taken on the water.   Phone cases and dry bags may be available for purchase. Sunscreen is important, even on overcast days. Don’t forget to hydrate!

How do I cancel/reschedule my reservation?

If you need to RESCHEDULE or CANCEL your reservation for any reason, you may do so with at least 24 hours’ notice without penalty, by calling 310-989-4350 or emailing info@prosupshop.com 24 hours in advance of the scheduled reservation time.

CANCELLATIONS with less than 24 hours notice will not be eligible for a refund or credit or allowed to reschedule.

REFUNDS will be processed if we need to close due to weather conditions.  You cannot be on the water when there is lightning within 10 miles or winds above 13 mph.

Do I have to have a PFD (life jacket)?

Yes. The U.S. Coast Guard says so. So do we. We have traditional class II PFDs that are stored on your board/kayak. If you prefer to wear a life jacket, we will get you fitted at check-in since they vary from the ones stored on our equipment.  Anyone ages 12 or younger MUST, by law, wear a PFD at all times when on the water. We encourage everyone to wear their PFDs at all times, particularly parents to do so around their kids.
